The Commission is the local franchising authority that grants, renews, and revokes certificates of public good for cable television systems in Vermont. Federal law limits state and local regulation of cable companies, including, among other things, over rates and programming. The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has jurisdiction over many matters related to the regulation of the cable communications industry in the United States.
