Step 1 – Download Zoom App 

If you don't already have the Zoom app, follow the instructions below to download it. If you don't want to download the app or are having issues with the desktop version, you may also access the Zoom meeting in your web browser, but you may have limited functionality. 

  1. Download the Zoom app from www.zoom.us/download. This link will take you to the "Download Center."
  2. Click the "Download" button for the "Zoom Desktop Client" to get the Zoom app.
  3. Open and install the Zoom Desktop App.

This is not a Zoom account, and you do not need a Zoom account to join a meeting.

Step 2 – Joining a Meeting

To join the meeting, simply click on the Join Zoom meeting link and follow the prompts. We suggest that you sign in a few minutes early to address any problems that might arise.

For most people:

  1. Clicking the link will take you to the meeting access point webpage.
  2. In the center of the screen, click the box that says "Launch Meeting," which will open a popup from your browser. In that popup, click "Open Zoom Meetings."
  3. This will launch the Zoom app and put you in the waiting room. If you don't see the meeting, click the "Join" button and enter the Meeting ID. 
  4. Next, you should see yourself on screen. Click on the blue "Join With Video" box below your image.
  5. On the next screen, click the blue " Join with Computer Audio" box.
  6. You should be in the meeting or see a message that the host has yet to start the meeting. 

For those not using the Zoom desktop app

Joining via Browser 
  1. Clicking the meeting link will take you to the meeting access point webpage.
  2. Do not click the "Launch" or "Open" buttons. Instead, click the "Join from Your Browser" link two lines below the "Launch Meeting" button. 
  3. Enter your name and click the "Join" button.
  4. Next, you should see yourself on screen. Click on the blue "Join With Video" box below your image.
  5. On the next screen, click the blue " Join with Computer Audio" box.
  6. You should be in the meeting or see a message that the host has yet to start the meeting. 
Joining via Phone 

While joining via a computer is highly recommended, if you need to join via a mobile phone or landline, you can call the following numbers to join.  

  1. Dial the telephone call-in number listed for the meeting. If that number does not work, try another number listed in the "Dial by your location" list below. If you dial a toll number, your carrier rates will apply.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID, the eleven (11) digit ID provided to you by the host, followed by #.
  3. If the meeting has not already started and join before host is not enabled, you will be prompted to enter the host key to start the meeting, or to press # to wait if you are participant.
  4. You will be prompted to enter your unique participant ID. This only applies if you have joined on a computer or mobile device or are a panelist in a webinar. Press # to skip.

Phone controls for participants. The following commands can be entered using your phone's dial pad while in a Zoom meeting:

  • *6 - Toggle mute/unmute
  • *9 - Raise/lower hand
