Energy Efficiency Charge Rates

Electric and natural gas energy efficiency in Vermont is funded by a charge on customers' bills, known as the Energy Efficiency Charge (EEC). Both electric and natural gas customers pay the EEC.

EEC rates are based on customers' consumption. For example, a customer's total energy efficiency charge is based on the number of kWh used.  For customers served under a demand rate (generally commercial and industrial customers), the charge is also based on the number of kW billed each month.

The EEC rates are set by the Commission each year using the process and method set forth in Commission Rule 5.300.

Information regarding current and past EEC rates is available for public review in the Commission's electronic case management system, ePUC.  From the All Cases search page, enter "energy efficiency charge" in the Case Name field, then click Search.
